“I FELT MY SUPPORT OFFICER WAS ALWAYS CONTACTABLE AND REMEMBERED WHAT I HAD TOLD THEM BEFORE”
Edith’s Story

How we helped
Contact was made by one of our Northumbria Victim and Witness Support Officers, and her needs discussed. The crime had significantly affected Edith’s life. Our support officer assessed that she would benefit from home security support and advice. They also allocated one of our volunteers for further emotional support.
Whilst still receiving support from our volunteer, they also found some befriending support for Edith. Our service has extensive links with other charities and voluntary organisations, and long term help and support was found for her through Independent Age Newcastle.
What happened afterwards
Edith continues to make progress towards full recovery and will continue to be supported until she feels she has returned to where she was before the offence.
How we can help you
Age and other issues can have a huge impact on how a crime impacts you and how long it can take to recover. We always take all factors into consideration when devising a cope and recovery plan and will offer support for as long as the person in question requires it.
