“Whoever the victim, and whatever the crime, we will always put them first and give the best possible support, care and advice”

Letya’s Story

“I FELT SO REASSURED THAT WE WOULDNT BE TARGETED AGAIN”

How we helped

The family had struggled to get any appropriate support since moving to the region. In a joint meeting with her Northumbria Victim and Witness Support Officer and the Community engagement team, ourselves and the family, it was agreed regular contact would take place and home security items were provided
Letya was delighted to know that her Support Officer could speak their own language and could understand their cultural concerns.  This built trust with the family to stay in touch with the co-ordinator on a regular basis.

What happened afterwards

With regular contact and a joint Policing and support approach to the issues they experienced the family were much happier and settled and they began to look to the future positively.

How we can help you

We work closely with the Police especially in situations like this as it is important to make sure all aspects are covered from both policing and support angles. We also have a number of staff speaking a variety of languages including Bangladeshi, Punjabi and Polish.
