You can now contact us via our Live Web Chat facility – available between 9am and 4pm – Monday to Friday.

This is the Live Chat for Northumbria Victim and Witness Service (Cope & Recovery support).

Confidential help and support from one of our Northumbria Victim and Witness Support Officers who will be on hand to offer you help or advice whatever you needs might be.

We can give you support if you have or haven’t reported to the police. You don’t need to give us your name or details.

You can talk to us in confidence (see our safeguarding policy for information for when we may have to deviate from this)

We’ll help you find the right information and support. This might be through our  Victim and Witness Support Officer with your consent, or we can put you in touch with one of our partners to provide specialist support.

You can request advice, or support, information about a particular issue or ask general questions via live chat

Some things to be aware of:

If you require ongoing support we may ask you for your details and create a case on our case management system. All information is stored here confidentially and securely and we will always inform you and ask for your consent to do this beforehand.

We will always listen to you, however we are not a counselling service. If you do want counselling, we will help you find a service near you.

Our live chat should be a safe experience for both our users and us. We will not tolerate abusive behaviour towards our staff and will block users that are being abusive or misusing the chat facility.

When you join live chat, you’ll be allocated to the next available member of staff. This could be male or female. If you feel you require speaking to a particular gender, it may be best to contact us here or request a call back via live chat

You can leave feedback following your chat with us, however this is completely optional.

We work hard to ensure our live chat system is secure. We will do our best to protect the information that you give us. However, while we use encryption, there’s no way to guarantee that any data transmission over the internet is 100 per cent secure.

If you share personal details such as your full name and date of birth when using live chat and have a case created on our secure case management system, you can request to see the information we keep about you.
