“Whoever the victim, and whatever the crime, we will always put them first and give the best possible support, care and advice”

Noah’s Story

I FELT SO REASSURED BY MY SUPPORT OFFICER AND FELT A LOT SAFER AT HOME

How we helped

We made contact with Noah within 24 hours of receiving the referral. He said he was worried about attending court as a witness. The Northumbria Victim and Witness Support Officer explained the support that could be given to him emotionally, practically and throughout any court processes including special measures that would allow him to give any evidence in court from behind a screen or remotely.

Noah stated he couldn’t afford any home security,  the doors to the property weren’t very secure and the landlord had been ignoring his requests to fix them. We arranged to send him 2 door alarms and a dummy camera to make him feel more secure. His landlord was also contacted and requested to make the appropriate repairs to the door to ensure they were lockable and secure.

What happened afterwards

Noah was grateful for our help and advised he felt much safer and more confident about attending the trial. The offender was later sentenced to 12 months in prison.

How we can help you

Sometimes practical support by way of some home security advice or items can be enough to put your mind at rest especially if you have children in the house. Crimes often go unpunished because of fear of repercussions so it is important to provide that reassurance and support.
