“Whoever the victim, and whatever the crime, we will always put them first and give the best possible support, care and advice”

Victims First Northumbria at The Newcastle Mela 2016

Over the bank holiday weekend Victims First Northumbria joined Northumbria Police in supporting the 2016 Mela event in Newcastle.

The Mela celebrates Pakistani, Bengali, Indian and other South Asian cultures and is a great opportunity for people to learn more, be entertained and meet new people as well as enjoy different music, art and food in the city.

This years’ Newcastle Mela was a fantastic occasion and we were pleased to be part of the celebrations.

Sana, our very own BME and hate crime champion was delighted so many people dropped by the Victims First Northumbria stall to say hello, find out how we can help victims of crime and also to hear about the volunteering opportunities we have available.

She said: “The Mela really is such a great event and it was a real pleasure to show our support. The turn-out was great and the sun even made a welcome appearance. I met lots of new people – and many were keen to come and volunteer with us so I look forward to being in touch with them again. Thanks to everyone who paid our stall a visit and made the event such a success.”
